Emotional Freedom Techniques (EFT) the Power of Tapping

Updated: Jun 5, 2024

As mental health becomes increasingly relevant today, there has been an interest in pursuing holistic well-being, where individuals are turning to alternative therapies to help address their physical, mental and emotional wellness. A technique gaining popularity is the Emotional Freedom Technique (EFT), commonly known as tapping.

Emotional Freedom Techniques (EFT) the Power of Tapping

EFT or tapping is just what it sounds like – tapping. A notable EFT master trainer is Robin Bilazarian where she states that tapping is a non-invasive self-regulating method that uses ancient Chinese meridians and modern psychological elements.

The practice involves gently tapping on specific meridian points on the body while simultaneously focusing on the unresolved emotional issues or physical uneasiness. Tapping aims to stimulate the body's energy flow which can help release blocked emotions and promote balance. The interesting thing about EFT is that it is done with eyes open which is quite different from other mindfulness techniques.

EFT is a flexible approach to therapy that attempts to reduce stress and anxiety as well as improve self-esteem.  Studies have also suggested that tapping may positively impact the brain's stress response. Through tapping, it can help reduce and lower cortisol levels – the primary stress hormone.  Adding to the many benefits of EFT it can also break the cycle of negative thought patterns, offering a unique approach to managing emotions.

As people begin to explore holistic healing methods, the Emotional Freedom Technique stands out as a tool that invites people to take an active role in their emotional health. The simple act of tapping makes EFT an option for those seeking emotional freedom. EFT has shown promise in fostering emotional well-being and can be referred to as "acupuncture without needles," which makes it attractive to those who do not like needles and making it user-friendly for people of all ages.
